Prime Minister Raja Pervez Asharf has said the government is in contact with all the members of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) for enactment of a global law curbing blasphemy. According to him, the President Asif Ali Zardari's speech at the United Nations will focus this issue. He was addressing a ceremony on distribution of compensation cheques among the kin of the shoe factory fire victims at the Punjab Governor House, here on Monday.
He distributed Rs 100,000 to the kin of each victim. While addressing the participants, the Prime Minister called for strict action against those responsible for making the sacrilegious movie, and for framing an effective legislation at international level. He said the sacrilegious movie had not only hurt the sentiments of entire Muslim Ummah, but also endangered the world peace. The Prime Minister said that a handful of miscreants resorted to violence on Yaum-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (PBUH). The government, he resolved, would take strict action against them.
