Christian community protests attack on church in Mardan

Condemning the torching of a church in district Mardan, the Christian Community on Tuesday held a protest demonstration on the main Sher Shah Suri road near Peshawar Press Club, demanding exemplary punishment for the involved people. Carrying placards and banners, the protesters expressed grave concern over the burning of holy book bibles and damaging of the Church.
"We strongly condemn the unjustified attack on our worship place," said Romal Mashi, who led the protesters. He demanded that the Federal and Provincial governments take stern action against the people involved in the incident under section 292-C law of the state. He said that the leaders of political and religious parties, the workers who staged protest demonstrations under their parties' banners, must be held accountable for the attack on the Church in district Mardan.
He demanded an inquiry against the administration for negligence in allowing protesters to attack the Church despite the alarming situation that persisted on the day. The protesters also condemned the Anti-Islam movie produced in United States, sought the America and UN to conduct an impartial probe and bring to justice those responsible for this sacrilegious act, which has caused a blow to the peace of the world.
