The Divisional Commissioner, Hyderabad, Ahmed Bux Narejo took a strong exception to the slow pace of work at the tomb of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalander (RA) and warned the contractor and Project Director to finish work within two months, otherwise strict action would be taken against them.
The warning was issued after a surprise visit by the divisional commissioner on Tuesday. During the visit, the Divisional inspected various components of the development work at the Dargah. Expressing dissatisfaction over the debris laying inside and outside the tomb and encroachment over plots purchased for the project's extension, he directed officers concerned and contractor to get all plots vacated and start work on the temporary boundary wall within a week.
Narjo also warned people who had been paid to vacate their buildings, telling them to do so within two days, failing which their buildings would be demolished. The Commissioner Hyderabad also assured members of the Lal Shahbaz Citizens Committee, who staged a sit-in outside the tomb against the slow pace of work, that the development work would be initiated within a week and all encroachments would be removed and the acquired space would be protected by erecting a boundary wall.
He also assured them that the sanctity of the Alam Pak would be maintained at all cost and the work on the Shia mosque would also be started within a week. He also assured that affectees would be provided residential plots in addition to being paid compensation for their buildings. He also directed the Assistant Commissioner, Sehwan, to prepare a list of such persons so that their summary could be moved to the competent authority. Project Director Qazi Farooq briefed the Divisional Commissioner, Hyderabad, about the status of development work of the project.
