A high-level meeting of the department of Population Welfare was informed on Tuesday that establishment of 75 family welfare centres (FWCs) in various districts of the province, construction of buildings for Reproductive Health Service Centre (RHSC) in district Buner, Shangla and Mardan, and construction of office building for population welfare department were included in the annual development program (ADP) of the province.
The meeting was held here with Provincial Minister for Population Welfare, Saleem Khan in the chair. The meeting, besides others issues reviewed in detail the progress made so far on the development program (ADP) of the current fiscal year. Secretary Population Welfare Ahmad Hanif Orakzai, Director General Population Welfare, Fazal Nabi and other concerned authorities attended the meeting.
Presiding over the meeting the provincial minister directed the high ups of population Welfare Department to work out a plan to give time scale promotions to the family welfare Assistants and other technical staff of the department on the pattern of time scales given to the employees of Health and Education departments so that the staff could be promoted to next grades who have been waiting for promotion since long.
The meeting was informed that establishment of FWCs has been completed and recruitment of staff for the newly established FWCs has been completed except in district Kohistan. Provincial Minister expressed his displeasure on delay in the recruitment of staff. He termed such delay as inefficiency on the part of the concerned district officer and directed the authorities to initiate disciplinary action against the district officer.
The meeting was further informed that establishment of RHSCs is near completion while preparation of PC-1 and architectural structure for the office building of the department is in final stages. The provincial minister directed the concerned quarters to complete the PC-1 and architectural structure of the building in all respect by the first week of the next month.
He also directed the high ups to take staff to improve the monitoring system of the department to evaluate the performance of the staff, ensure the timely supply of medicines for the newly established FWCs and initiate a case to regularise the project staff of the department. He further directed the authorities to enhance the monthly stipends of the under training students of Regional Training from Rs 2000 to 3,500.
