Imparting skills to women entrepreneurs played crucial role in empowering women, University of Peshawar's Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Qibla Ayaz said on Tuesday. Addressing a certificate distribution ceremony among participants of a six-day skill development workshop, he said that such initiatives helped develop home-based industries, improving the utilisation of the huge women work force in the country.
The workshop was held for fabric printing entrepreneurs. WBDC is a project of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) and the Ministry of Industries. The ceremony was attended by Program Manager, WBDC, Nabeela Farman, and trainer Iqbal Bano. The Vice-Chancellor said that the prevailing economic problems could be arrested with increase in the number of bread earners in families. Iqbal Bano appreciated WBDC efforts for the promotion of women entrepreneurship in the province, offering free consultancy services in this regard.
