LAHORE: Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman said on Tuesday that average yield of wheat per acre has increased this year due to the farmers’ friendly policies of the present government.
“The government, despite difficult situation, has given relief to various sectors including the farmers,” he said while talking to the former Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari, who called on him, here at Governor House today.
Terming the incidents of May 9 as very sad and dark chapter in the country’s history, the governor said that attacks on institutions, military installation and disrespect of the martyrs' memorials by the miscreants was an intolerable act. He said that ranks of martyrs are very high in Islam, and respect of martyrs is obligatory on each of us.
The governor said that the government is committed to development and stability in the country despite the economic challenges. In the previous tenure of Muslim League (N), exemplary measures were taken in the fields of education and health and special attention was paid to the development of South Punjab.
Former Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Sardar Dost Muhammad Mazari, who has joined the PML-N formally, said that Muslim League (N) has always played a key role in the development of the country. He said that he will play his vital role in resolving the problems of the people of South Punjab. He said that everyone has to play his/her role for the development of the country and the nation by keeping personal interests aside.
