Oscar winner actor Jessica Chastain shared her chance encounter with Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai on Instagram on Thursday, along with a note in praise of the Pakistani activist.
Chastain is currently starring in a Broadway production of ‘A Doll’s House’, currently being staged in New York City.

Sharing a picture of the two together, Chastain wrote: “Spinning around in my chair during the pre-show of A Doll’s House and look who I spotted!”
“I was so excited to see Malala, a woman who has been on the forefront of fighting for female rights and freedom.”
Chastain then went on to thank Malala for her support. “Thank you Malala and all of the amazing people who make up our audience,” she wrote. “Sad to see this dream end on June 10. I hope you get a chance to see us before we close, and I hope it may awaken something inside you. It definitely did for me. Thank you for coming to our show, Malala.”
Chastain also shared a picture of the production cast with Yousafzai and her husband Asser Malik.
Chastain also gave details about her play, sharing how ‘A Doll’s House’ is the first to have been adapted by a woman, and how its an honour to play Nora.

Chastain is a film, television and stage actress, starting in theatre and television.
In 2011 she starred in six movies, including the 9/11 thriller ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ and ‘The Help’. She received her first Academy Award nomination for the latter.
In 2021, she starred in the HBO miniseries ‘Scenes from a Marriage’, and produced and starred as the televangelist Tammy Faye in the biopic ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye’. For the latter, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress.

In 2023, Chastain received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress for starring in the Broadway revival of ‘A Doll’s House’.
