The Federal government has allocated Rs 2.4 billion for 24 projects under a special development package for Balochistan set to be initiated during the current financial year at a cost of Rs 38.43 billion. According to documents obtained by Business Recorder, the government allocated Rs 815.293 million under Dera Bugti Package for eight projects with total cost Rs 4.188 billion.
The government has also allocated Rs 400.8 million under Kohlu Development Package for 14 development projects having total cost of Rs 6.8 billion while Rs 153 million have been earmarked for two projects pertaining to Quetta Development Package, costing Rs 2.44 billion. Similarly, it has earmarked Rs 1 billion for Gwadar Development Package with total cost Rs 25 billion of which Rs 5.703 billion have been expended.
Development projects in Dera Bugti Package included electrification of villages, costing Rs 718 million (allocation for the current fiscal Rs 150 million, expenditure Rs 604 million till June 30 this year); Construction of 132-kv Grid Station at Sui and 132-kv at Kashmore-Sui transmission line (50-kilometre-long) at a cost Rs 297.2 million (allocation Rs 100 million, expenditure Rs 363 million); Construction of 132-kv Grid Station at Dera Bugti and 132 kv Sui-Dera Bugti transmission line (55-Km-long) at a cost Rs 304 million, (this year's allocation Rs 100 million, expenditure Rs 251 million).
Development projects included in the Kohlu Development package are: Construction of Sibi-Rakhni Road via Maiwand (Tall-Kohlu) Section Km 24-164, costing Rs 5.132 billion, (current year's allocation of Rs 200 million, expenditure Rs 2.246 billion till June 30 this year); Construction of 132-kv grid Station at Kohlu at a cost Rs 330.43 million (allocation Rs 79.39 million, expenditure Rs 251 million); Water Supply Scheme for Kohlu with total cost of Rs 67.58 million (allocation Rs 10 million, expenditure Rs 17.147 million) and similar projects for the on-going financial year.
In the Quetta Development Package, projects included Construction of flyover at Sariab Phatak at a cost Rs 1.414 billion (allocation Rs 78 million, expenditure Rs 820.62 million) and Construction of flyover at Koyala Phattak, Samangli Road, Quetta, costing Rs 1.025 billion (allocation Rs 75 million while Rs 605.622 million were spent till June 30 this year) in the current fiscal year.
