Alleged kidnapper dies in police custody

An alleged kidnapper died Friday night at I-9 Police Station when he was allegedly tortured by the investigators. "Saadat s/o Muhammad Ali who allegedly kidnapped Muhammad Sadiq from sector I-10/1 on June 28, was arrested by police and died last night due to torture", a police official said.
He said that Muhmmad Aslam registered a complaint with Sabzi Mandi Police Station on June 28 that his son Muhammad Sadiq, a resident of Gujranwala has been kidnapped by Saadat from sector I-10/1. He said that police registered an FIR number 350 and started investigation. Police arrested Saadat, Friday night he was unconscious in police custody when the investigators tortured him, he said.
The official said that police have shifted him to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) where doctor pronounced him dead. A medical board was constituted on the request to police high-ups to determine whether the kidnapper died due to police torture or heart attack, he said. He said that according to a medical board the alleged kidnapper died in the police custody due to torture. Police handed over the body to the relatives of deceased after post-mortem.
The official said that Inspector General of Police IGP Bani Amin took strict notice of the incident and ordered to take action against police official involved in the killing of alleged kidnapers. The IGP said that the family of the deceased to be compensated, he said. He said that police have registered an FIR against the police officers namely SP Industrial Area Ishaq Waraich, ASP Industrial Area Dr Khalil, SHO Asjid Mehmood and Investigation officer ASI Gul Khan. A police team has been constituted to arrest them.
