KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 224,191 tons of cargo comprising 128,533 tons of import cargo and 95,658 tons of export cargo during last 24 hrs ending 0700 Hours.

Total import cargo of 128,533 comprised of 84,865 tons of containerized cargo, 5,637 tons of bulk cargo, 6,695 tons of chickpeas, 15,999 tons of DAP and 15,537 tons of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 95,658 tons comprised of 60,242 tons of containerized cargo and 35,416 tons of clinkers.

As many as 7,800 containers comprising of 2,560 containers import and 5,240 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours.

The break-up of imported containers shows 678 of 20’s and 871 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 70 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 607 of 20’s and 1038 of 40’s loaded containers while 359 of 20’s and 1099 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships sailed from Karachi Port, namely GH Foehn, Libra, Cosco Glory, Global Harvest and Wide Juliet.

Two ships are expected to sail from Karachi Port namely Yantian Express and Wan Hai 627.
