KARACHI: Industrialist at Bin Qasim have urged for easy access to the Malir Expressway and Circular Railway stopover to connect with Port Qasim.
Bin Qasim Association of Trade and Industry (BQATI) industry representatives presented these demands to Commissioner Karachi Iqbal Memon during his visit to BQATI on Tuesday.
Abdul Rasheed Jan Muhammad President of BQATI delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Bin Qasim Industrial Zone, with a specific focus on the Port Qasim Industrial Zone. He highlighted that the Port Qasim Industrial Zone is home to numerous large and medium-sized industrial units, including multinational companies.
He also highlighted the tremendous potential for industrial investment in the Port Qasim Industrial Zone due to the ample availability of land. He also requested to address the transportation and commuting challenges faced in the area.
During the meeting, industry leaders emphasized on the key importance of mobility said that there is need that PQA Industries have easy access to the Malir Expressway and circular railway stopover to connect with Port Qasim.
BQATI also proposed a bus service from the airport to PQA to facilitate the labour of the Bin Qasim industrial estate. They urged early completion of the revamping of Mehran Highway, which has faced significant delays.
Jan Muhammad informed that BQATI had approached Pakistan Railways to establish a Port Qasim Railway Station, but unfortunately, no favourable action has been taken thus far.
He also emphasized the importance of increased visibility of traffic police for better commuting to the Port Qasim Industrial Zone.
He also requested the creation of a dedicated police station in the Port Qasim Industrial Zone, given the large scope of Bin Qasim Town.
