Arbab Khizer Hayat Khan, leader of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), said that every Baloch family is mourning the abduction of a youth. Immediate recovery of the missing persons, he stressed, should be ensured, as Baloch people, because of this very issue, do not trust any other national institution than the judiciary.
He noted that even in the democratic rule, Balochistan is under the influence of "men in uniform". Khizer observed if the Parliament were supreme, the situation in Balochistan would have been different. He said Balochistan was miss-treated in the reign of democratic governments as well as during dictatorship.
He included that they want the immediate recovery of the missing persons. It is incumbent upon the government to take such steps that are instrumental in restoring the confidence of the Baloch people. Instead of shedding crocodile tears the government must come up with a pragmatic solution for Balochistan. Khizer said law should be as equal for the people of Quetta as for those from Rawalpindi, and all the parties are responsible for creating unrest in the province. Also, law-enforcement agencies should be punished.
He said the people of East Pakistan were more loyal than people of Balochistan but when Balochi`s raised their voice against injustice, they were labelled as traitors. He said the government completely failed in their four and half years of tenure, as the conditions aggravated worse than ever before.
Objecting to the MFN-status given to India, he asked, keeping in view the statement of Rehman Malik accusing India for creating law-and-order situation in Balochistan why India is being awarded the status of most-favoured nation.
He claimed that the situation in Balochistan is not good as the real leadership is not representing the province. He said that the mutilated bodies of political workers are being found from different areas.
The PML-N leader also urged for the arrest of Nawab Akbar Bhugti's killers. He said that the issue would not be resolved without taking an appropriate action. The nation will observe that how far the court can go in resolving the matter. No progress has been on the issue so far, he added.
