Two MQM activists among six killed in Karachi

At least six persons including two MQM activists were killed in separate incidents of violence at various parts of the metropolis here on Monday. According to police and rescue sources, MQM activist identified as Akhtar Hussain, 40, son of Muhammad Hussain was shot dead at Hangoorabad, Lyari in the jurisdiction of Kalri police station. Police said the victim, who was hit by seven bullets, was former unit In charge of Agra Taj unit.
They said the initial investigation suggested that the accused Usman Katchi, who associated with Lyari gangsters, claimed his life after hot debate. Later, the body was handed over to his heirs after legal formalities. Another MQM activist namely Hamid was gunned down in Ranchor Line. The deceased was an active worker of MQM Ranchor Line sector. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
Three unknown armed riders sprayed Najeebullah, 45, son of Saeed ul Haq and Hazrat Gul, 30, with bullets at Baldia No 9 in the jurisdiction of Baldia police station. Resultantly, Najeeb sustained fatal bullet wounds and died on spot while his friend was injured and admitted to CHK in critical condition. Police said that the deceased hailed from Swat.
Another man identified as Abdul Jalil, 45, son of Shareef Mehsud was killed in an armed ambush near his residence located at Chota Gabool Goth at Super Highway in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station. Police said the deceased, who got marriage twice, might have been murdered over his first in-laws. A meat wholesaler was gunned down at Liaquatabad No 9 in the limits of Liaquatabad police station. Police said two unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate gunshots on him when he was busy in loading meat on a pick up and added that he might have been killed over personal ground.
An armed clash between two groups near Rabia City in the limits of Sharahe Faisal police station claimed a life of Ashraf Khan. Police said Bashr and Shera groups engaged in an armed scuffle over some issue that led the killing of Ashraf, who was brother-in-law of Bashr group leader. They said both groups scuffled each other over extortion issue. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
