Supreme Court on Monday sought details of terms of reference (ToR) and minutes of the executive board meetings from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) today (Tuesday). A three-judge bench led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case of illegal appointment of Chairman Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Tauqir Sadiq.
Prosecutor General (PG) NAB KK Agha told the court that the reference against former chairman NAB Tauqir Sadiq had been prepared, which would be filed within the next two days. It is worth mentioning that the NAB had submitted a report to the apex court in which Tauqir Sadiq had been accused of causing a loss of Rs 83 million to the national kitty.
"There was no need to probe the matter after the Court's verdict in the instant matter and the NAB was supposed to initiate proceedings after filing reference in the concerned forum against those involved in illegal appointment of Tauqir Sadiq," the Chief Justice remarked. He further said that the NAB was also supposed to identify all those involved in the embezzlement of millions of rupees, adding that the NAB cannot launch a separate inquiry. The hearing was adjourned till Tuesday (today).
