Action taken against employees of CPI Faisalabad

06 Oct, 2012

A Spokesman of the Punjab Government has said that necessary disciplinary action has been initiated against the employees of the Child Protection Institute Faisalabad, who were involved in financial corruption as well as other corrupt practices. However, the center has neither been closed nor shifted to any other place while all speculations in this regard are baseless.
The Spokesman further said that when complaints against the Faisalabad Centre came to light, competent authorities took immediate notice and reviewed the situation on-the-spot, where injustice was committed to some children, while essential items earmarked for children, were being embezzled, in connivance with sweepers, chowkidars and other members of the staff. Keeping this situation in view, the children have been shifted to Lahore, so those center officials are not in a position to continue their unbecoming attitude towards them. However, these children would soon be called back to the Faisalabad Centre.
The Spokesman added that the employees involved in this case had started demanding the transfer of the District Officer Faisalabad to cover up their shortcomings, but the said officer has not been found guilty during the investigation. He said that the concerned police are also being contacted, through the Home Department, against these employees to avoid any kind of unpleasant situation. The Spokesman said that, after investigation, it has also been found that these officials misused their authority by overstepping their official powers, and created hindrances in the provision of facilities being extended to these children, on behalf of the government.
