Shahbaz says teacher occupies a lofty place in society

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Friday said that a teacher occupies a lofty place in the society and, reiteration of respect to the teachers from every segment of the society on the occasion of World Teachers' Day is a highly welcome step.
Paying glowing tributes to the services of the teachers on the occasion of "Salute Teacher Day" Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that teachers are benefactors and a source of pride for the nation. He said that respect to the teachers is the ultimate guarantee of success in life, as the role of the teachers for the progress of the society cannot be overemphasised. The Chief Minister said that, after parents, the teacher play the most important role in shaping the personality of a person.
He stressed that Punjab government is taking all possible steps to ensure welfare and uplift of teachers' community, and, along with the students, prizes worth millions of rupees are being awarded to the teachers of the province for displaying outstanding performance in the academic field.
Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that as a result of reforms in the education sector, positive results are being garnered, while, under a comprehensive programme, special attention is being paid to the promotion of education in the less-developed areas of the province.
He said that establishment of Daanish schools in South Punjab is a step in this direction, under which an educational revolution is being brought about in the backward areas through Daanish school system. He said that students belonging to less fortunate segment of the society are being provided best academic facilities in Daanish schools in order to inculcate leadership qualities in them. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that setting up of IT labs in four and half thousand schools of Punjab is another unique step of the Punjab government, due to which students studying in high schools get latest information about the developments at the international level through internet.
