Participants at a consultative session have highlighted the civic issues and recommended a number of solid suggestions and proposals for their amicable remedial. They demanded for bringing improvement in present sanitation system, and make appropriate arrangement as per demands of the general public.
The consultative session conducted by Akhtar Hameed Resouce Centre, held under former president Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Central Vice President All Pakistan Traders Alliance, Haji Halim Jan here at a local hotel. Those, who were attended the session including local stakeholders Abdul Hakeem Safi, and Sirijuddin and Ex-Nazim of Town which included; Abdul Wahid Qadri, Khalid Gul, Qureshi, Dr Liaqat and representative from Halrcow International Company Engineer Riaz ul Islam. The participants suggested for brining improvement in the existing sanitation services system in the Town I localities, demanding for provision of services as per needs of local community.
Abdul Wahid Qadari in his opening remark has expressed grave concern over pathetic sewerage line and sanitation system in various localities of Peshawar city, Particularly in Town-I, saying that most of the time, staffs were not seen at the site and absent from their duties, which was created immense difficulties for local dwellers.
He further added that the situation was getting worst due to not properly performing duties of staff of Town-I. Owing to lack of proper damping system, he explained that a huge piles of garbage were seen everywhere in the different parts of city. He criticised the authority concerned was lest bothered to pay attention toward the basic issues of local community.
Haji Haleem Jan further stressed the need for presence of sanitation staffs at every nook and corner to improve the existing situation in city areas. "There was needed to establish monitoring and evolution system to keep check performance of staff on regular basis, in which local community should play their due role', he suggested.
The participants proposed that a daily basis report should also compiled for regulating duties of sanitation staff, and inform the relevant authority concerned about their absence. "It could be easy for the authority to provide timely response to services improvement, they noted.
The participants also expressed concern over Town-I development plan making without taking into confidence the local citizens, demanding an adequate mechanism should be adapted to timely involve the citizens in these development programs. For quick improvement of existing services, the participants called upon the TMA for repair of the existing vehicles and should immediately improve garbage secondary transportation and disposal.
