Traders protest against police

06 Oct, 2012

Traders of mobile and electronics markets in Saddar on Friday closed down their businesses in protest against the police "heavy handedness", saying their losses continue to soar amid poor law and order in the metropolis. "Traders in protest kept shut their shops down after police forced the footpath-stalls of electronics items to close with use of power," said a trader of electronics market, Ahmed Ali Memon.
Banners were also seen on M.A. Jinnah Road and at mobile market inscribed with demands of removal of the SHO of concerned police station, which the traders association had displayed. "The security agencies are backing the criminal elements for political reasons and if such a practice continued then the businesses will fall badly," said Chairman All Karachi Tahir Ittehad, Atiq Mir. He said the police relations with traders are bad to protect them against the criminals rather there are elements in the law enforcers which support the outlaws. He said the traders are faced with problems of security and lack of support from police.
