KARACHI: Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Former Justice Maqbool Baqar has said that the government hospitals in Sindh are providing free-of-cost medical treatment to every patient, no matter whether the patient belongs to other provinces, but the Gambat Hospital has some specialties for which they do charge.
This he said while talking to the Advisor to Caretaker CM Balochistan for Social Welfare and Special Education, Shania Khan who called on him here at CM House on Monday.
The Balochistan CM Advisor said that the Social Welfare Dept of Balochistan has an endowment fund from which the medical treatment of poor patients for deadly diseases is carried out. The patients are referred to hospitals of Sindh such as Dow University Hospital and Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences but the treatment is costly, therefore the patients of Balochistan may be given subsidy, the advisor urged the CM Sindh.
Interim Sindh Chief Minister said that as far as the Dow Hospital, Ojha was concerned it was the personal hospital of the university where subsidized rates were being charged. Talking about the Gambat Hospital, Justice Baqar said that it has a long list of patients for liver transplantation. “Even then I am directing the health department to discuss the matter with both the hospitals for the welfare of poor patients from Balochistan,” he said and added Balochs were our brothers, and we would not disappoint them.
