Hong Kong stocks resume lower

HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks opened down on Tuesday after a long weekend, with traders watching US Treasury yields and the Middle East crisis weighing heavily on markets.

The Hang Seng Index shed 0.69 percent, or 118.98 points, to open at 17,053.15.

Hong Kong shares open lower

Markets in mainland China edged upward, however, with the Shanghai Composite Index up 0.17 percent, or 5.02 points, to 2,944.31, and the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange adding 0.33 percent, or 5.78 points, to start at 1,782.49.
