Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 148,746 tonnes of cargo comprising 90,935 tonnes of import cargo and 57,811 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 90,935 comprised of 19,839 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 3,743 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 1,000 tonnes of Chick Peas, 5,713 tonnes of Dap, 2,169 tonnes of Rapeseed & 54,745 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

The total export Cargo of 57,811 comprised of 37,411 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 54 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 4,312 tonnes of Cement & 16,034 tonnes of Clinkers.

Nearly, 4506 containers comprising of 1888 containers import and 2618 containers export were handled on Wednesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 328 of 20’s and 529 of 40’s loaded while 74 of 20’s and 214 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 528 of 20’s and 931 of 40’s loaded containers while 132 of 20’s and 48 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

As many as 07 ships, namely Safeen Prize, Sukhoor Alkhaleej, Ever Sigma, Eider, MT Mardan, Al Amal and Independent Spirit berthed at Karachi Port Trust.

Around, 04 ships namely, Xin Qing Dao, Altus, Wan Hai 721 and MT Sargodha berthed at Karachi Port Trust.

Approximately, 04 ships namely, Ever Sigma, Zin Qing Dao, Eider and Independent Spirit Sailed off from Karachi Port Trust.

PORT QSIM

A total of ten ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them three ships, Serene Amelia, Sinar Malahayati and Maersk Detroit are expected to sail on Wednesday.

Cargo volume of 114,670 tonnes, comprising 92,761 tonnes imports cargo and 21,909 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 4,304 Containers (3,383 TEUs Imports and 921 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are eight ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them two ships, Marangas Kalymnos and Discovery carrying LNG and Wheat are expected to take berths at Gas Terminal and Grain Terminal respectively on Wednesday, 25th October, 2023.
