Polio eradication is second crucial target in FATA: Kausar

Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Barrister Masood Kausar, said that polio eradication is the second most important target after restoration of peace in FATA. This he said as a Chief Guest in a meeting for polio eradication in FATA at Governor's House Peshawar, last Tuesday.
The meeting was attended also by Dr Azra Fazal Pechuhu (MNA/Chairperson Polio Oversight Committee), ACS FATA, Secretary Social Sector FATA, Secretary Law and Order FATA, Dr Altaf Bosan (National Co-co-ordinator PM's Cell) and others. The Governor through a presentation was briefed about the progress on polio eradication and the performance of polio team workers in FATA. All the Political Agents and DCOs from different districts gave briefings about their progress on polio eradication in their respective areas.
The Governor said that the situations were going towards betterment but restoration of normal routine life take time after operation by security forces in the area. He said that government has taken action against inefficient workers in polio eradication campaign which has resulted in improvement of the situations. He said that the vaccines available for polio eradication are of good quality but it could not be kept for a long time due to severe failure of electricity in some areas. Dr Azra Fazal Pechuhu stressed on the issue of inaccessibility and said that all the areas in FATA should be made accessible as one individual suffering from polio can affect the whole community.
