World space week held at MUET

A grand 'Space Fair' marked the second day of World Space Week (WSW) celebrations - 2012 at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro here on Wednesday. It was organised by Department of Telecommunication Engg, MUET, Jamshoro and Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco).
The fair included Suparco stalls exhibiting models of different rockets and satellites, space photography, kids arena, planetarium by Pakistan science foundation, telecom department projects, among many other exciting things. Model making competition was also arranged as part of the space fair. Twelve teams from different private and public schools exhibited their models on the World Space Week 2012 theme "Space for Human Safety and Security" suggesting greater emphasis on usage and application of space technology for the benefits and security of human beings. Models made by students reflected their sound knowledge related to space technologies and their applications. Pakistan Science Foundation also exhibits the planetarium at MUET auditorium which was highly attracted by the students of all ages.
Closing ceremony at 3pm marked the official ending of World Space Week 2012 celebrations. It included prize distribution ceremony where award prizes were distributed to the winners of all competitions. The chief guest, Professor Dr M A Uqaili, Pro-Vice Chancellor, MUET shared his esteemed thoughts with the audience and emphasise that such events should be on continual basis. He also appreciated the efforts of department of telecommunication engineering, MUET, Jamshoro for organising such an informative yet entertaining event.
