PHF calls former Olympian Tahir Zaman

Pakistan Hockey Federation on Thursday called former hockey Olympian Tahir Zaman and sought his help in lifting the sagging fortune of the national hockey team. "Secretary, PHF, Mohammad Asif Bajwa specially invited for the meeting and it was a meeting in which we discussed the present hockey scenario," said Tahir while talking to the newsmen after the meeting.
Tahir has parted with the present regime of the national hockey federation four years ago and time again criticised the working as well as the performance of the national hockey team. The meeting comes as a surprise as both the PHF and Tahir had fallen apart and now it seems both the parties have reached an agreement to sink their differences.
"My services are available for the cause of hockey and if PHF offers me any responsibility I will consider it in the larger interest of hockey," he added. To a question, he said, the meeting purely focused on revival of hockey and it does not mean that everything is okay as far his differences were concerned with the present regime of the national hockey federation.
"It was a step forward to look into the present hockey situation and nothing else and if some one says that I came here with an agenda with some conditions is completely wrong," he said adding "I have my own group and think tank and I cannot leave them in one go, I will consider every thing before making a final decision." He said he is a high performance certified coach of international hockey federation and has coached many teams of the world successfully.
"I have a lot of coaching offers with me but my aim is to serve Pak hockey because what ever I have achieved in life is because of hockey," he said. He said he does not know that if he will be handing over the senior or junior team. "What ever they (PHF) will offer me I will look into it before making up my mind," he said.
