Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 119,297 tonnes of cargo comprising 105,360 tonnes of import cargo and 13,937 tonnes of export cargo including 2,324 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 105,360 tonnes comprised 9,914 tonnes of containerised cargo; 22,623 tonnes of general cargo; 26,279 tonnes of bulk cargo: 722 tonnes of sulphur; 13,500 tonnes of coal; 1,119 tonnes of copra; 7,688 tonnes of DAP; 3,250 tonnes of rock phosphate and 46,544 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,937 tonnes comprised 9,788 tonnes of containerised cargo; 140 tonnes of general cargo; 2,294 tonnes of bulk cargo: 737 tonnes of cement; 1,557 tonnes of corn and 1,715 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 2,324 containers comprising 777 containers import and 1,547 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 217 of 20's and 230 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 50 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 205 of 20's and 213 of 40's loaded containers while 458 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Four ships namely Thai Long, Sidra Doha, TB 30 and Varity with two bulk cargo ships, one general cargo ship and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Five vessels viz Vishva Diksha, APL Brisbane, Lodestar Genesis, Lady Amina and Beacon SW with two container ships, one oil tanker, one bulk cargo ship and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Two ships namely APL Brisbane and Beacon SW with one container ship and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while four ships namely Naxihe, Lodestar Genesis, Interpid and Sea Merchant carrying one container ship, one oil tanker, one DAP ship and one cement carrier respectively are expected to sail on Friday.
Four vessels viz OOCL Dalian, Lantau Arrow, Kota Anggerik and MT Quetta with three container ships and one crude oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Friday, while five vessels viz MOL Solution, BSL Gujrat, Oriental Rose, DA Cul Yun and Tabernacle with two container ships, one ethanol tanker, one general cargo ship and one cement carrier respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.

The total export cargo of 18,121 tonnes includes 3,555 tonnes of cement; 3,919 tonnes of wheat and 10,647 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two ships namely CV Nicola Deimns and CV CGM Bellini with containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning. A total number of five vessels viz CV Nicola Deimns, CV CGM Bellini, MV Ocean Star, MV Thurgali and MV Anna Dorothea are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, wheat, cement and urea respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely Lantau arrow, NYK Kai, Bow Sagami and Global Aker with containers, edible oil and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Four vessels viz CV Lantau arrow, CV NYK Kai, MT Bow Sagami and MV Global Aker with containers, edible oil and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday.
