Former federal minister for parliamentary affairs Dr Sher Afgan Niazi died of liver cancer in his native city Mianwali on Thursday. Niazi had been fighting against this deadly disease for the past six months. Political circles expressed deep sorrow and grief over his death. He was considered an expert on rules of business of parliament.
APP adds: Dr Niazi was from the famous Pashtun tribe of Niazi. He was elected to National Assembly in 2002 as a member of Pakistan People's Party (Parliamentarians). Later, he joined PPP (Patriot), a breakaway faction of PPP. Niazi joined Former President Musharraf's newly-formed political party, All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), after quitting PML-Q. However, he later resigned from the party following differences with the leadership. He was also famous for memorising all the Articles of the constitution of Pakistan.
