Pakistani's Ambassador to the United States Sherry Rehman said that Malala Yousafzai's struggle for equal access of education symbolises resonance of all girls of the country who are denied right to education by Taliban. She said Malala is a brave girl who is symbol of hope, resolve and courage for every Pakistani. Talking to CNN the other day she stated: "This is taken as long and protracted struggle of Pakistan against terrorism and a typical mindset."
She said attack on Malala developed a new resolve in the country as everyone including media and political forces are speaking out the act, the stance promulgated earlier by the government and security forces only, Sherry remarked. "Now we are seeing all over the country everyone is speaking against it and it is a very important moment for us." The Pakistan envoy said everyone is inflamed at this completely inexcusable act.
Sherry said: "There is very legitimate anger on this completely inexcusable act of terrorism." She lauded services of Malala who has dedicated her life for a noble cause of promoting girls education, adding: "We are fighting for empowerment of women at the grass-roots level and rights of girls."
On a query regarding the security arrangements for Malala, Sherry said Malala's family was repeatedly offered security by the government but they refused to accept. She informed that after the barbaric act of Malala's attack, the government acted promptly and scrambled every thing speedily in their Federal and provincial resources, adding that the best medical facility is ensured for her treatment. The Ambassador said Malala is under treatment of a panel of doctors who are looking after her with complete medical care.
Earlier elaborating the condition of Malala, Director General ISPR and Military spokesman, Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, informed the channel that Malala has underwent two surgeries and she will continue to stay in the same hospital. She was shot point blank from a very short distance and the bullet Malala received, passed through vein to neck and rested near back bone.
