The Federal Board of Revenue has given gigantic task to the Collectors of Customs, Model Customs Collectorates (MCCs) to generate an extraordinary amount of Rs 2.421 billion through administrative measures during second quarter (October-December) 2012-13.
Sources told Business Recorder here on Monday that FBR has directed the Collectors of Customs MCCs to take administrative measures like confiscation of non-duty paid smuggled cars, encashment of bank guarantees, auction, recovery of arrears, application of valuation ruling on imported goods and speedy adjudication of cases. The administrative measures also included action against importers, whose financial securities including post-dated cheques and bank guarantees could not be en-cashed for release of overstayed goods in the Customs bonded warehouses.
According to sources, the FBR has directed MCC Appraisement Karachi to recover an amount of Rs 500 million during the second quarter (October-December) 2012-2013; MCC PaCCS Karachi Rs 230 million; MCC Appraisement Lahore Rs 125 million; MCC Islamabad Rs 250 million; MCC Sambrial Rs 66 million; MCC Port Qasim Rs 200 million; MCC Preventive Karachi Rs 100 million; MCC Quetta Rs 50 million; MCC Multan Rs 500 million; MCC Preventive Lahore Rs 200 million; MCC Peshawar Rs 100 million; MCC Faisalabad Rs 50 million and the FBR has directed MCC Hyderabad to recover an amount of Rs 50 million during the second quarter (October-December) 2012-13.
