Police officers asked to enhance intelligence network

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mohammad Akbar Khan Hoti has directed Peshawar based high ranking police officers to further enhance their intelligence network and pre-empt and prevent the activities of miscreants well in it.
He was presiding over a high-level meeting of Peshawar police here at Central Police Offices here on Monday. Additional IGP, Headquarters, Khalid Masood, Additional IGP Investigation, Liaquat Ali Khan, Additional IGP Special Branch, Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, Commander Elite Force, Dr, Mohammad Suleman, DIG Enquiry and Inspection, Tariq Javed and PSO to PPO Zubair Shah attended the meeting while CCPO, Peshawar, Imtiaz Altaf briefed the participants about the last night attack on Ghazi Abad Police Post with the help of maps and slides.
The meeting thoroughly reviewed the miscreants' modes operandi on attacking the post and police response to it and various instructions were issued in this connection. The IGP categorically made it clear that no lethargy would be tolerated and those who failed to deliver on the call of duty would be strictly taken to task. They were directed to evolve effective new security strategy, remove the loopholes and weaknesses in the old security plan and retaliate every attack with iron hand.
The police chief also directed the Peshawar police to be more pro-active, plug these areas, give swift reaction to any action of terrorism and do not let them go back to their dens safely. They were further directed to fully equip the force Jawans especially those performing duties at the periphery of Mattani areas and encourage them by visiting these spots from time to time.
The participants were also directed to implement the standing operating procedure (SOPs) drafted for the protection of police buildings in letter and spirit. Earlier, the police chief visited the Mattani area where he inspected the Ghazi Police Post and briefed himself about the terrorist attack on it. In light of detailed inspection of the spot, the police chief issued necessary instructions to the officers of Peshawar Police, who were present on this occasion.
