Punjab Industrial Estate Management Development Company ((PIEMDC) has awarded worth Rs 1.3 billion contract for execution of infrastructure development of the Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate. According to PIEMDC Chairman S.M. Tanveer, under the contract, first phase comprising an area of 250 acres would be completed. It may be noted that the Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate would be set up on a total area of 500 acres within a period of two years.
He said that the company had allocated an area of 100 acres for Halal Park so that livestock potential in Cholistan could be exploited. The Halal Park would help enhance export of meat from Pakistan, he said. S.M Tanveer also said that the estate would home mainly agro-based industry besides textile ginning, spinning and other industrial units which would not only create thousands of job opportunities for the local people but would also contribute to the country's economic growth.
Responding to a question, the PIEMDC chief said that so far 35 plots of one-acre each had already been sold at a price of Rs 5 million per plot against the initial target of 50 acres. The selling of plots would help generate revenue for the company which would further be utilised in development of remaining area during the second phase, he said.
He, however, said the plot price would further be increased after completion of first selling target of 50 acres. He said the industrial estates being developed in different cities of the province would be a replica of the Sundar Industrial Estate. He hoped that one could take initiative for starting civil works of this industrial unit within next four months at the Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate.
