Punjab University Department of Library and Information Science (DLIS) has organised two consecutive workshops on Research Ethics, End Note and Turnitin. These workshops were designed specifically for the PU faculty members to facilitate them in conducting research.
In her inaugural address and first session, DLIS Chairperson Professor Dr Kanwal Ameen emphasised on the need of learning research ethics and the use of Turnitin software for plagiarism checking, value of proper citing in research and using EndNote software for managing references.
Professor Dr Kanwal Ameen presented an overview of the research ethics to be followed in research writings from the research design to the reporting stage. The second session was 'hands-on practice' conducted by Dr Nosheen Fatima in computer laboratory of the department for Turnitin. In the third session, Dr Khalid Mahmood highlighted how to identify and format citing elements in the text and in reference list / bibliography.
In the last session, Dr Shafiq Ur Rehman, co-ordinator of the workshop, explored various features of EndNote software through hands-on practice on searching; sorting, importing and organising references electronically with Microsoft Word option Cite While You Write (CWYW). In the concluding session, Dr Kanwal Ameen appreciated the participants for their interest in the workshop.
