19 Oct, 2012

The doctors of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) stopped provision of services at emergency of the hospital and gave a strike call against the torture of a young doctor by the security guard.
The young Doctors' Association (YDA) told Business Recorder that the Principal Women Medical College Abbottabad, Dr Shaheena Jamil's guard used abusive language and tortured a doctor of Pims and when a representative of YDA went for negotiations with the guard, he was attacked by the guard.
Resultantly, the representatives of YDA started beating him. "The guard slapped and kicked our doctor and used abusive language on the plea that doctor was driving his car on wrong side of the road while it was the guard who was on the wrong side. And when the doctor objected on the behaviour and language of the guard, he kicked the doctor. YDA representatives just asked the guard to say sorry, but instead of apologising he along with his colleagues became violent that lead to a brawl between the guards and the doctors", a representative of YDA said. The emergency department services were suspended for two hours by young doctors to raise their voice against the brutal act of the guard.
