ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday demanded the details of the security expenses of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's Jati Umra residence, saying such lavish spending under the pretext of security at the cost of the hard-earned money of the taxpayers is deplorable.
In a statement issued here, the PTI spokesman Raoof Hasan, said that it is a blatant misuse of public money and the Punjab government must provide the details pertaining to the security of the chief minister's Jati Umra residence.
He said that the people of Punjab are crushed under skyrocketing inflation, unemployment and scarcity of resources, while Sharif’s "touts" were busy in lavish spending of public money on the luxurious lifestyle of the “fake”chief minister just like her father and uncle who had been squandering the provincial treasury as if it is the inheritance of the late Mian Sharif.
He said that treading on the path of her predecessors, who had spent Rs364 million on the security of the Jati Umra, the mandate-thief was also intended to squander Rs149.1 million under the head of purchasing and installing security equipment at her personal residence.
However, contrary to these mandate thieves, he recalled that when Imran Khan was the prime minister, he stayed in his personal residence of Bani Gala and paid all the security expenses from his own pocket.
He urged that the government of Punjab should show some shame and modesty, and stop squandering the people's money on the mandate thief's whims and fancies.
He made it clear that said that PTI would raise the issue on the floor of the house as the party would not tolerate any further wasteful spending of public money.
