Baig discusses trade issues with US officials

Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Advisor to PM on Textile held a meeting with Kara Babrowski, Economic Incharge, US Consulate General Karachi looking after textiles and power generation. Dr Baig informed Kara that since US ROZs project is shelved for duty free market access to Pakistani products for US market, US should allow some concessional tariff on some of our textiles products.
Dr Baig also discussed with Gail Strickler, Assistant Secretary USTR to allow duty free exports of Pakistan fabric to the countries engaged on garment manufacturing for US market. Dr Baig provided the list of tariff lines of the said products. Kara Babrowski promised to take up the matter with the concern and to do her best to provide market access to Pakistan textile products for US market. US Consulate also organising Video Conference with the leading US buyers and textile exporters for Pakistan for better interaction. Dr Baig thanked US government and Michael Delaney of USTR for having organised Investment Conference in London to attract US investment in Pakistan.-PR
