ISLAMABAD: A high-level Chinese delegation is set to arrive in Pakistan to hold crucial talks regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, on Thursday, announced that the delegation’s visit underscores the enduring and resilient friendship between the two nations, which transcends politics.

The meetings will be co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and a senior Chinese minister, focusing on the advancement and upgrading of CPEC projects.

This visit follows the prime minister’s successful trip to China, further solidifying the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The minister highlighted the longstanding, resilient friendship between Pakistan and China, which he said transcends politics.

“Many powers are uncomfortable with the Pakistan-China friendship,” Tarar stated, adding that criticism of this relationship is unwarranted. He commended the Chinese envoy and embassy for their efforts in strengthening bilateral ties.

Tarar stressed the importance of good relations with all provinces, addressing the issue of load shedding which is prevalent in areas with electricity theft or line losses. He called for joint efforts between federal and provincial governments to resolve these issues, emphasizing collaboration and mutual support.

“We are not the ones who burned bills and refused to pay,” he said, reiterating the government’s commitment to protecting Pakistan’s interests.

He also condemned the attacks on May 9, stating that no dialogue can be held with those who jeopardise national security.

The minister criticised a political party for “campaigning against Pakistan-China friendship” even during Eid, suggesting that ill-will and negative intentions will not prevail. “Pakistan belongs to all of us and will exist forever,” Tarar concluded, underscoring the need for unity and positive thinking.

The minister also praised the excellent cleanliness and sanitation arrangements made during the Eid festival, crediting the efforts of law enforcement agencies for maintaining peace and order.

“Eid al-Adha teaches us lessons of sacrifice and selflessness,” the minister emphasised.

He noted that the prime minister, the Punjab chief minister, and other leaders were actively involved in ensuring the successful management of Eid arrangements.

All government departments performed their duties diligently, ensuring smooth operations throughout the holiday.
