LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to build a new industrial estate on non-agricultural land in Gujrat. In this connection, Punjab Industry and Commerce Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain presided over a meeting here on Monday in which the colonisation and development issues of 23 small industrial estates of Punjab were reviewed.
Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) Managing Director Sidra Younas, Senior Economic Advisor Javed Iqbal and Irrigation officers attended the meeting while the ADCR Gujarat attended the meeting through a video link.
On this occasion, the minister instructed the district administration of Gujrat to identify suitable land in the next four days, adding that a place should be identified for the industrial estate where electricity transmission and gas pipelines were available nearby. He said that the new industrial estate in Gujarat would provide convenience to industrialists and increase economic activities.
“The establishment of new factories in Punjab would create new employment opportunities; the government was following an effective strategy to speed up the process of industrialization in the province,” he added.
