ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court hearing £190 million National Crime Agency (NCA) scam commonly known as the Al-Qadir Trust case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, on Tuesday granted bail to Khan’s wife.
Accountability Court judge Muhammad Ali Warraich, while hearing the case at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, approved the bail of Bushra Bibi.
However, she cannot be released due to her conviction in the Iddat case.
During the hearing, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi said the bureau did not require the arrest of Bushra Bibi and the NAB chairman has not issued her arrest warrant. “When the warrant of the arrest has not been issued then the application becomes ineffective,” he said.
The court has approved Bushra Bibi’s bail.
During the hearing, the defence counsel conducted the cross-examination of three prosecution witnesses.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till July 5.
Imran Khan, after the hearing while responding to a question that Prime Minister Shehbaz has invited the opposition for talks [FS1], remarked do we talk with Shehbaz Sharif about the weather? What does Sharif have, to hold dialogue with him, he asked.
“I am still standing firm on my statement regarding the cypher issue,” he said, adding that he had stated that the US has threatened to topple his government and they toppled our government.
To another query about differences in the party, he said the differences in the party are not a big problem. There is no forward block in PTI as this is a party that has been set up based on the power of the vote, he said.
He said that some of the PTI leaders left party after they were subjected to torture and some left the party after seeing their files.
