PESHAWAR: Small Industries Development Board (SIDB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has initiated practical measures for the construction of the mega project of Industrial Park Peshawar.
For the completion of Rs 3 billion mega Industrial Park, SIDB Managing Director, Habibullah Arif has issued work orders to the chief executive officers of two construction companies, according to a statement issued here on Thursday.
According to the statement, Deputy Managing Director Engineer Zulfikar Ali Sahibzada, Deputy Managing Director (Planning & Development) Noman Fayaz, Joint Director, Safdar Abbas Afridi said the project will trigger economic activities in the provincial metropolis of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and generate employment opportunities for the locals of the Sara Khawra locality at Zangali area on the Kohat Road.
The officials said that Industrial Park Peshawar will be one of the unique projects wherein 400 industrial units would be set up on industrial plots of 11 marla to 4 kanal land in the industrial estate and generate about 25000 employment opportunities.
For the completion of the Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Industrial Park Peshawar, the construction companies have been issued special instructions to complete the project within the stipulated time period of two years, the officials said.
According to the Zulfiqar Ali Sahibzada, Industrial Park Peshawar is being established in proximity to Afghanistan and seven Central Asian Republics having more than 130 million persons.
The site is situated at main Indus highways, linked with Khyber Pass Economic Corridor, a 48 kilometers 4-lane expressway between Peshawar and Torkham , is a part of corridor 5 & 6 of the Central Asia regional economic cooperation routes, which will provide the shortest link between Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Arabian sea.
