Bulls dominated the proceedings at the Lahore Stock Exchange (LSE) where equities registered gains amid slight decline in transaction volume on Monday. The LSE-25 index moved up to 4052.55 points against 3947.01 points of last Friday, showing an increment of 105.54 points, while transaction volume decreased to 02.849 million shares, as compared to previous volume of 02.960 million shares.
According to brokers, the investors are taking fresh positions, as levels of a few scrips are attractive and investment in dividend oriented shares can yield positive results. Attock Refinery Limited, Nishat Mills Limited, Engro Corporation Limited, Pioneer Cement, Cherat Cement, KESC, Reliance Weaving Mills, Faysal Bank, Adamjee Insurance Company and Arif Habib Corporation registered gains and closed in positive column while Packages Limited, IGI Insurance, Engro Foods Limited, DG Khan Cement, Fauji Fertiliser Company, Lucky Cement Limited, Nimir Industrial Chemicals, Lafarge Pakistan Cement, SSGC and Netsol Technologies Limited suffered losses and closed in minus column.
The gainers were just ahead with the losers, as out of a total of 102 companies, 24 showed strength and closed in green zone, 23 suffered losses, while 55 companies stayed unchanged at their previous levels. Among the gainers, Attock Refinery Limited was improved by Rs 7.11, Nishat Mills Limited was appreciated by Rs 2.60 and Engro Corporation Limited was appreciated by Rs 1.03, while Pioneer Cement, Cherat Cement, KESC, Reliance Weaving Mills, Faysal Bank, Adamjee Insurance Company and Arif Habib Corporation were up by Re 1.00, paisa-94, paisa-78, paisa-71, paisa-61, paisa-60 and paisa-50, respectively.
Among the losers, Packages Limited shed Rs 3.89, IGI Insurance was declined by Rs 2.11, Engro Foods Limited lost Rs 1.46, while DG Khan Cement, Fauji Fertiliser Company, Lucky Cement Limited, Nimir Industrial Chemicals, Lafarge Pakistan Cement, SSGC and Netsol Technologies Limited were down by paisa-83, paisa-80, paisa-45, paisa-33, paisa-27, paisa-25 and paisa-20, respectively.
