ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced plans to establish a world-class safari park in Islamabad, with technical assistance from the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The project aims to enhance the city's recreational and tourism infrastructure, providing a unique experience for both residents and visitors.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, which included CDA Board members, FCDO representatives, and other officials.

Chairman Randhawa emphasised the importance of creating a facility that meets international standards and enhances Islamabad's appeal as a tourist destination. He directed that successful safari parks around the world be studied as models for this initiative.

In addition to the safari park, Chairman Randhawa highlighted ongoing efforts to improve facilities in F-9 Park, further boosting tourism and offering residents new outdoor activity opportunities.

Earlier, a CDA Board meeting discussed several key agenda items.

The board decided to adopt new Paternity and Maternity Rules and focused on revitalising the CDA Hospital.

Plans were made to enhance the hospital's operational efficiency and financial sustainability, with the recruitment of doctors and paramedical staff for vacant positions. Chairman Randhawa also called for proposals to establish a medical college within the hospital to be presented at the next board meeting.

The board also resolved to study the financial rules of other institutions in the country to decentralise financial powers within the CDA. The aim is to implement the best financial practices to enhance the institution's efficiency. The meeting reviewed the income and revenue generation targets for the current fiscal year and decided that CDA Board meetings would be held weekly to facilitate timely decision-making and the completion of ongoing projects.

Under the leadership of Chairman Randhawa, the CDA is set for growth and excellence, with several initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for Islamabad's residents and visitors.
