LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday asked the deputy commissioner Lahore to decide an application of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) seeking permission to hold a rally in the city by August 02.
Earlier, a law officer appeared before the court and sought two days for the DC to decide the application. The court allowed the request and restrained the government and the police for causing any harassment to the petitioner or his family members.
The petitioner contended that his party wanted to hold a rally on August 14 at Minar-i-Pakistan and submitted a request for it, but received no response.
The petitioner assured the court that the rally would be peaceful. He argued that holding rallies was the right of every political party, but the PTI was being deprived of this fundamental right.
