KARACHI: Thar Foundation, a CSR wing of SECMC, is equipping the youth with the skills needed to navigate the evolving global landscape, ensuring a resilient future for them.

According to details, Thar Foundation supports Government Polytechnic Institute (GPI) Mithi in Tharparkar, Sindh, providing quality education in various technologies, including DAE Mining, Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil.

The foundation is also providing scholarships to over 180 students while supporting salaries of 11 experienced teachers and maintaining high educational standards.

Chandar Parkash, Principal of GPI Mithi, applauds the initiative and stated, "Thar Foundation's efforts in supporting education and vocational training are truly commendable. Their dedication to empowering Thari youth with practical skills and knowledge is carving the way for a brighter and sustainable future."

Thar Foundation has established advanced electrical and mechanical labs and essential infrastructure at GPI Mithi. This ensures students have access to top-tier facilities and equipment, enabling critical hands-on experience.

Raveeta Kumari, one of the students, reflects on the program by saying, "My journey with Thar Foundation's DAE program has been transformative. The advanced labs and infrastructure at GPI have been instrumental in shaping up my electrical and mechanical skills."

Thar Foundation has recently enrolled 50 students in GPI Mithi, including 13 girls, in Thar's ongoing Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) program. Within the marginalized community of Thar, the enrollment of a significant number of girls in technical education is an achievement.

Under this DAE program, students are receiving technical education and practical skills in mining, electrical, and mechanical engineering. These students will undergo a comprehensive two-year study program followed by a third year of studies in China. The program follows an Integrated CCTE Dual Diploma international education cooperation model, focusing on the Chinese language, commercial culture, technical skills, and employment readiness, preparing students for local and global opportunities. The curriculum balances theoretical studies and practical skills to ensure graduates are job-ready, with students spending significant time in labs on real-world projects.
