BEIJING: China hopes that “social stability can be restored in Bangladesh” soon, the foreign ministry in Beijing said on Tuesday, after former prime minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled following widespread protests.

“As a friendly neighbour and comprehensive strategic cooperative partner, China sincerely hopes that social stability can be restored in Bangladesh at an early date,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
