Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has said that today's students are the future hope of the nation and mere reading books does not serve the purpose rather it is more than that to come upto the expectations. The role of teacher is of great importance in making the future generation better for the nation, he added.
Addressing after delivering cash awards on his own behalf to gold medallists of Saidu Medical College, Swat and the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar at Governor's House, Peshawar on Tuesday, the Governor further elaborated that character building of students must be the essence of education. "This is also must to make them good citizens and Muslims too", he remarked.
In all 33 graduates of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar and 38 of Saidu Medical College Swat respectively for the academic sessions since 2005 were given cash awards for each gold medal. Provincial Secretary Higher Education, Farah Hamed Khan, vice chancellors of Khyber Medical University and the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, Prof: Dr Hafeezullah and Professor Dr Farhana Jehangir Qazi were also present on the occasion.
Highlighting the importance of the teaching profession, the Governor said, it also contributes a lot in maintaining linkages between generations and the prevailing situation in this respect, demands extra efforts to bridge the gaps. "Universities being the institutions of higher learning are supposed to guide the nation and therefore they also deserve to be given special importance in the society", he remarked. With all these facts in mind, the Governor who is also the chancellor of the public sector universities further stated that research activities needs to be treated as top most priority to make their contribution in this connection fully useful. The Governor highly appreciated the presence of a good number of girls amongst award winners and said that it indeed is a big achievement and encouraging sign on their part.
