Brown proposes global action day for Malala

25 Oct, 2012

Britain's former Prime Minister and UN's Special Envoy for Global Education Gordon Brown has called for observing November 10 as the Global Day of Action for Malala. In an article, he said that the objective was to achieve Malala Yousafzai's aim - which every girl has the opportunity to go to school.
He said the words "I am Malala" are not only a defiant challenge to the Taliban but a bold assertion that every single girl and boy should have the chance of an education. The UN Special Envoy pointed out that most recent figures published by Unesco in their Global Monitoring Report showed that 61 million children did not receive an education.
