High-risk areas: mobile phone services to be suspended today, says Malik

Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik has said that cellular services in some parts of the country will be suspended between 6am and 10am on the first day of Eidul Azha. Talking to media persons here on Friday, he said that mobile phone service will be suspended in high-risk areas of the country on the Eid Day because of security reasons.
However, he made it clear that cell phone service will not be suspended across the country. According to him, mobile phone service will be suspended in three cities of Punjab‚ two in Sindh‚ three cities and some pockets in tribal agencies in Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa and a major and some small cities in Balochistan. However‚ he declined to identify which cities and areas would be affected. Previously, the government had blocked the cell phone service during Youme Ishq-e-Rasool Day and Eidul Fitr in a bid to curb the possibility of acts of terrorism.
