LAHORE: Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has said that a dedicated committee would be established to resolve the pharmaceutical sector’s issues which would include all relevant stakeholders, with leadership from provincial ministers, ensuring that the industry’s challenges were addressed on a priority basis.
He expressed these views during a meeting with representatives of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) held on Monday to discuss the challenges and concerns faced by pharmaceutical companies. The purpose of the meeting was to gain an understanding of the pharmaceutical industry’s concerns and to outline the government’s initiatives for addressing them.
While addressing the meeting, the Minister urged the pharmaceutical companies to ensure a steady supply of medicines to government hospitals, especially essential drugs during the ongoing smog season to avoid disruptions in public healthcare services. He further emphasised that the healthcare sector remains a top priority for the Punjab government and that improvements in this area were closely linked to the cooperation and support of pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers.
