Chilly, windy weather likely for two days

KARACHI: Cold winds blew across the city on Tuesday, as the Met Office has forecast chilly and windy weather ahead with minimum temperature between 12 Celsius and 10 Celsius.

According to the Met, the weather is expected to remain cool and dry with occasional winds to batter the metropolis. Minimum temperature may stay between 12 Celsius and 10 Celsius in the next two days.

A cold wave continues to grip the province, with temperatures expected to remain significantly below normal. Nighttime temperatures are forecast to be 2–4 Celsius below average in upper and central Sindh.

While mercury levels may dip by 2–3 Celsius below normal in lower Sindh. Tharparkar and Umerkot Districts are likely to see the most pronounced drop with nighttime temperatures expected to be 3–5 Celsius below average.

Elsewhere in the country: Most parts are expected to witness mainly cold and dry weather with very cold conditions prevailing in hilly areas during the mornings and nights.

Patchy fog and smog are likely to persist in parts of upper Sindh and Punjab during the early morning and nighttime hours. Additionally, isolated frost may form in Islamabad, the Pothohar region and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the mornings.

On Tuesday: Cold and dry conditions prevailed across most parts of the country, with freezing temperatures reported in hilly areas.

Light drizzle and snowfall were observed in Murree, Galliyat, and nearby regions. Meanwhile, smog and fog lingered in patches over parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.

The day’s lowest temperatures were recorded in Leh and Skardu at minus 9 Celsius, each, Gupis, Astore and Gilgit minus 7 each, Quetta minus 6, Kalat minus 5 and Dir and Kalam minus 4, each.
