Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSC) General Khalid Shameem Wynne will return to Pakistan on Sunday (today) after holding five-day talks on Pak-Australia defence co-operation with General David Hurley, the Chief of Defence Forces, Australia.
Defence sources said the JCSC chief would brief the Chief of Army Staff about his visit to Australia. During his talk with the Australian side, matters relating to mutual co-operation between the two armed forces came under discussion with special reference to the region and upcoming transition of power in Afghanistan.
Wynne briefed the Australian Defence forces chief about the militant threat being faced by Pakistan and the sacrifices rendered by Pakistani people and the armed forces in fighting terrorism. The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and General David Hurley initiated the sixth Round of Pakistan-Australia Defence and Security Talks and the third round of Pakistan-Australia 1.5 Track Security Dialogue. The Pak-Australia Defence and Security Talks were instituted in 2006, whereas the 1.5 Track Security Dialogue was initiated in 2010.
