Security arrangements for Muharram discussed

The necessary security and administrative arrangements should be made for smooth and peaceful observance of Muharramul Harram. This was stated by acting DCO Waheed Akhtar Ansari while presiding over a meeting held here on Saturday in connection with the preparedness regarding Muharram arrangements.
He directed the officers of concerned departments to carry out joint survey of Muharram procession routs and to hold meetings with the organisers to identify the irritants for their redressal before the time. He urged upon the ACs to mobilise peace committees in their respective areas for maintaining religious harmony during Muharramul Harram.
He directed that wall chalking of all kinds should also immediately be white-washed besides removal of encroachments on the Muharram Procession routs. The DCO said that effective strategy should be evolved to cope with the any eventuality and government hospitals should be made ready for emergency medical services during Ashra Muharram.
He said the ban was being imposed on unfair used of loudspeakers, distribution of objectionable printing material and playing of cassettes containing hatred speeches. The DCO said that all necessary arrangements for the month of Muharram should be finalised well in time and warned that any lethargy dereliction from duty would not be tolerated in this regard.
